FTR pirate king is a scam that promises unrealistic returns on investment. It also uses a pyramid scheme to pay its users, which is illegal in most countries.
The ruthless pirate king sends his daughter Alosa on a mission to find part of a map that will lead her to a secret isle. Alosa deliberately facilitates her own capture to ensure she is aboard the ship, confident that she can overcome any obstacle.
Alosa’s story
Alosa is the daughter of a ftr pirate king who rules over the seas. She is a strong and no-nonsense captain who loves to battle. She is determined to complete a mission that her father gave her so she can bring him glory and gain his trust. She is sent on a secret quest to find a piece of a map that leads to an island guarded by sirens.
Alosa pretends to be a prisoner of a ship that is under attack from pirates so she can search the ship for the map fragment. But as she looks deeper and deeper into the ship, she finds more questions than answers. She soon realizes that the first mate on her ship is suspicious of her and is questioning her about why she has been stealing treasure from his crew. Alosa isn’t sure she can handle the complication of her own plans, but she’s determined to make it work.
As she searches the ship, Alosa notices that her siren abilities take hold and she forgets her human side. She can only use her siren ability for a certain amount of time before it drains away her power. She has three abilities: influencing men to do anything for her, directing them to do whatever she wants, and calling them to do things.
She also has the ability to sense when men are angry or fearful and can manipulate their emotions. Her ability is useful in preventing attacks from being made against her. She can also control the strength of her calls and commands.
However, she needs to be in salt water to keep her powers intact. She only has enough saltwater to keep her siren powers active for so long before she loses control of them.
The author does a great job of describing Alosa’s siren abilities and how she uses them to her advantage. She is strong and capable as a pirate, but she also has a soft spot for women and is careful to treat them with respect. She also makes her pirate crew a strong and supportive group even though some of them are ruthless.
Draxen’s story
The ftr pirate king is a man of mystery, and he comes with a hefty price tag. He’s a badass who knows how to use his powers to get what he wants, but he’s not exactly the easiest guy to take down, either.
Alosa is the daughter of the ftr pirate king, and she’s been trained to fight like the dickens. She’s been given a ship and a crew (all-female plus a couple of big guys) that she’s had to hand pick.
She’s been doing her best to please her father, but her plans aren’t always so effective. When she’s given the job of kidnapping the captain of a rival pirate ship and finding an ancient map to bring back to her father, she makes a few mistakes.
One is enlisting the aid of a siren to distract him while she searches for the map. She also tries to charm him with her female magic, but Draxen isn’t as receptive as she thought.
Despite her best efforts, Alosa doesn’t find the map. She does, however, discover that she can slash his arm in half with her hilt of her sword, so she’s not entirely deterred from her mission.
The story is actually quite predictable, but it does have some fun details that really make the book a pleasure to read. There’s some very interesting lore that I look forward to seeing expanded in the next book, and a lot of action and adventure.
I love that this is a duology, as it makes for a longer book and also lets us see some different characters. It’s a great mix of romance, adventure, and fantasy that kept me glued to the page. I’d recommend it to fans of pirates and fantasy in general! I’m definitely going to read the next book in the series!
Tylon’s story
Debut author Tricia Levenseller brings a new twist to the pirate genre. A plethora of kickass female characters, a ftr pirate king and an enticing set of romances make this book a must read for all lovers of the high seas. While this book was not without its share of egregious chaff, it was a fun and light hearted romp with a high level of sophistication. The most memorable part was the author’s ability to keep us on the edge of our seats as the story unfolded. Riden’s story
Seventeen-year-old Alosa Kalligan has always sworn to save her father’s life and provide him with the final piece of the map that will lead him to the siren treasure. Her plan is working and she has managed to spare the lives of two of the ftr pirate king’s sons (Riden and Draxen) and provided her father with a key that could unlock a secret map of the sirens’ treasure.
She and her crew are reunited and the ship is sailing again. But she has a long list of errands to run before her journey can be completed. First, she must find the map that will guide her to the siren’s treasure before she can sail away from the pirate king’s ship and his ruthless crew.
As she goes through her daily tasks, she takes some time to sneak around Riden’s ship. He’s a deep sleeper and doesn’t wake when she enters his room to look for the map. She’s been toying with him a bit lately as she continues to search for the map every night but she doesn’t want to give up her location yet.
When she comes across a fake location, she decides to play it up a little. She gets Riden’s attention by pretending to be a siren so that she can get close to him. He’s a bit suspicious about the whole thing, but she gives him the false location and eventually walks out of the room.
Alosa realizes she can’t keep this up forever and that she will eventually need to leave the ship in order to survive. She is determined to find the map and return it to her father before she dies.
But she isn’t the only one looking for the map. She’s also being followed by her enemies who know she’s in the port city and will not hesitate to stop at nothing to take her.
The plot is well-paced and it doesn’t take too long to figure out who she is up against. But it doesn’t have any real depth and it was difficult to get into the story.
